Fall Happenings at Silver Threads

September has been a great month all around. The weather has been lovely, we are getting into our routines and the centres at Silver Threads Service have been busy with Fall Programs starting. Know that if you weren’t able to get into any of your favourites, most registered programs have 2 sessions during the Fall.
If you have never been to Silver Threads Service you can always pop in for a tour and pick up a program guide. We would be happy to show you around and see if it is a good fit. Each month we host a Monthly Social which is a great place to start as well. You can meet others and socialize over coffee for an hour. The dates are Tuesday, October 15th at the Victoria Centre and Tuesday, October 22nd at the Saanich Centre. Got to one – or go to both! Both run from 1:30 to 2:30pm. Call us to reserve your spot.
A few of our upcoming programs include the Choose to Move Program offered in partnership with Beacon Community Services. This is a free Community Program to help older adults become more active. It is not a fitness program but is a social group to help you set goals and connect with resources to make it happen!
In partnership with Island Deaf and Hard of Hearing we are offering Let’s Talk Speechreading and Tech Tips with Kelsey. If you find that hearing loss is making socializing difficult these programs could help. Further details are included in the October Programs listing.
A complementary Speakers Series to From the Ground Up is the Strength & Balance presentation on October 29th at the Saanich Centre. Over the 90-minute session you will learn techniques related to preventing ending up on the floor!
We have 53 different weekly registered programs, 41 weekly drop ins and 43 monthly activities from September to December.
Silver Threads Service has been serving the community for 67 years.
