Healthy Hearts, Connected Lives

Silver Threads Service offers a range of heart-healthy programs designed to support older adults in staying active, independent, and connected. From Functional Fitness and movement classes to walking groups and wellness activities, these programs focus on improving cardiovascular health in ways that are safe, welcoming, and enjoyable. Participants are encouraged to move at their own pace, build strength and endurance, and develop healthy routines that support overall well-being. At Silver Threads, our two locations offer 9 weekly group fitness classes and everything from Dance, Yoga, Wellness and a variety of sports. There is something for every body and fitness level.

Equally important, Silver Threads’ heart-healthy programs foster social connection and reduce isolation – two key factors in maintaining heart health as we age. By bringing people together in a supportive, community-based environment, these programs help participants stay motivated, engaged, and emotionally well. At Silver Threads, heart health is about more than physical activity; it’s about nurturing connection, confidence, and a sense of belonging that helps older adults thrive. Our Monthly Socials are a great place to start if you are a newcomer to our organization. Held on Tuesdays from 1:30 to 2:30pm, the Social at the Victoria Centre is February 17th and at the Saanich Centre on February 24th. There is no fee, and will give you an opportunity to have a coffee, meet others and learn more about Silver Threads.

Our Winter Program Guide offers programs through to the end of March and is online at www.silverthreads.ca and copies are available in our centres. Registration is online and in person. Our Saanich Centre is located at 286 Hampton Road, in the Tillicum Gorge neighbourhood and can be reached at 250 382-3151. Our Victoria Centre is located at 1911 Quadra Street, near the Police Station and can be reached at 250 388-4268.
